Travel for beauty treatments, sustainable agriculture and the stars are just a few of the trends Tripadvisor’s first-ever Trendcast 2025 report identified that are seeing large surges in popularity among travelers this year.
Tripadvisor used search, booking and behavioral data from its platform over the past two years to identify and analyze the trends.
"The Tripadvisor Trendcast isn't your typical yearly trends report - it's a glimpse into the future of travel and the consumer behaviors that we believe will shape our industry in the years ahead,” said Hilary Fischer-Groban, Head of Research & Insights at Tripadvisor.
“Exploring first-hand insights from millions of travelers across the globe has revealed interesting trends and massive cultural swings shaping travel,” continued Fischer-Groban. “Diving into the emerging trends and cultural shifts through our first-party data, the Tripadvisor Trendcast serves as a roadmap for travelers and industry leaders alike, inspiring the journeys of tomorrow."
So what trends is the platform seeing grow this year?
One is so-called Beauty Voyagers: these are travelers wanting to explore the globe through its beauty treatments, from historic beauty rituals to more modern tech. Tripadvisor has seen beauty bookings increase 400 percent, with mentions of skincare treatments in its forums increasing 87 percent.
Time Tripping is another big trend. This one’s defined as making the most out of the time you have in a new place, visiting places that are open 24 hours a day or getting up early to beat the crowds at popular attractions. Searches for “open late” and “24-hours” have increased 110 percent from a year ago. Tripadvisor believes this trend comes from the increase in workcations—travelers working their regular jobs need a bit more flexibility when it comes to exploring before and after work.
The third trend that’s been growing the past two years is more spiritual experiences, from viewing the full moon to traveling for astrology or tarot experiences. Searches for these have grown 500 percent in two years, and hotels have followed suit with experiences tied to astrology, crystals and more.
Foodies unite! Tripadvisor’s foodie trend of the year is called Investigative Eating, focusing on experiencing down-to-earth activities. Reviews and forums increased discussions on sustainability 65 percent, and attractions like farms and farmers markets are growing 1,400 percent faster than the food and drink experience category. From Asia’s unusual fruits to Europe’s farm-to-table cuisine, more travelers want to experience the freshest food they can while abroad.
Taking the path less traveled is a growing travel trend in 2025. Tripadvisor calls this “Nano Neighborhoods,” with neighborhood attractions pages growing 134 percent faster than singular attractions. Travelers desire to discover one neighborhood at a time over hopping through a city to see as much as they can.
Social solo travel is another big trend of the year: despite traveling alone, solo travelers are 60 percent more likely to talk about making friends in their Tripadvisor reviews, and 36 percent say meeting new people was a main reason for traveling.
Overall, travelers desire different, more experiential and learning-based experiences than in the past, ones that are more tied to their own hobbies and interests, whether that be skincare or learning about food production.
