Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel comparison platform, today released the winners of its annual Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Hotels Awards. These accolades, which recognize the year’s highest-rated hotels around the globe—as determined by Tripadvisor user reviews—are awarded to some of the top one percent of the 1.6 million hotel properties listed on its platform.

If you’re searching for the absolute cream of the crop, the very best accommodations on the planet, this is your guide. When you visit the microsite, you can narrow the results according to country, as well as using subcategories like luxury, all-inclusive, family-friendly, boutique, B&Bs and Inns, and more. New award subcategories debuting this year are pet-friendly, sustainable and wellness-focused hotels.

The Travelers Choice Best of the Best Hotel Awards are actually one of several annual awards that fall under Tripadvisor's broader Travelers' Choice Award umbrella, which serve to spotlight guests’ favorite travel experiences from around the globe. The awards are determined by evaluating the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings within each subcategory contributed on the Tripadvisor platform during the 2023 calendar year.

This set of awards highlighting the world’s most acclaimed hotels arrives on the heels of the 2024 Travelers' Choice Awards Best Destinations and Best Beaches, which were revealed in January and February respectively.

According to Tripadvisor reviewers, the world’s single best hotel is the boutique Hotel Colline de France, somewhat strangely located in the Brazilian mountain town of Gramado. The property is renowned for its exquisitely appointed rooms and interiors, as well as its highly personalized service, which exude classical French elegance in this South American setting. This is the third year running that Hotel Colline de France has claimed a spot in the Travelers’ Choice Awards’ top five, boasting more than 4,000 5-star Tripadvisor reviews.

The title of number one hotel in the U.S. belongs to the aptly named Shore Hotel, which occupies an oceanfront parcel in trendy Santa Monica, California. A pet-friendly and eco-friendly option, it’s the hotel also sits just steps away from the world-famous Santa Monica pier and is conveniently situated near many area attractions. The boutique property has garnered over 6,000 Tripadvisor reviews, with guests citing the hotel's contemporary feel, premium amenities and personalized attention from the staff as the main reasons for its acclaim.
