Americans voted, and Donald Trump is President once again…so what does it all mean for the travel industry?
From speaking with advisors and suppliers, the responses have either been what they hope it might mean for travel prices, or the worries of what an incoming travel ban might mean for global tourism.
ASTA sent a letter to Trump that urged the new administration not to bring back the travel ban.
But it does feel like it’s only a matter of time before some sort of travel ban is announced under this new administration.
And unfortunately, I don’t see travel prices dropping by much over the course of this year. Americans are traveling in record numbers despite higher prices.
Do we really think businesses, especially these airlines, are going to lower the cost of tickets or hotel stays or the numerous additional fees that continue to be added on in the overall cost of traveling these days? Still, I’ll hold out hope that by 2026 things get better in the pricing department.
Another big question to ponder: What will his new head of DOT Sean Duffy do during his tenure?
His plan includes, enhancing transportation safety, fixing the shortage of air traffic controllers and helping to reestablish the public’s confidence in Boeing.
The pundits have been saying this new administration is likely to be more pro-business than pro consumer, but nobody can deny that solving the air traffic controller problem is a win for everyone. It will certainly be something to re-visit in four years.
How do you think Trump’s second term will impact the overall travel industry?
