Travelers venturing abroad this season must know the latest travel guidance from the U.S. State Department.

Officials updated advisories for more than a dozen countries in November, including some popular travel destinations.

Here's a recap of some of the past month's most important travel advisory updates.

South Africa — Level 2

The State Department continues to advise Americans to exercise increased caution in South Africa due to crime, civil unrest and kidnapping as of its most recent November 7 update.

Travelers are advised to avoid traveling alone at night as well as shortcuts.

Bermuda — Level 1

Travelers can exercise normal precautions in Bermuda, based on the State Department's most recent November 12 update.

Grenada — Level 1

Visitors to the Spice Isle of Grenada can continue to exercise normal precautions as the State Department only updated its advisory to reflect that Hurricane Beryl's July 2024 impact on Carriacou and Petite Martinique had passed.

St Vincent and the Grenadines — Level 1

Americans are encouraged to exercise normal precautions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this winter. The State Department points out that the islands of Canouan, Mayreau, Palm Island and Union Island are in varying stages of recovery from Hurricane Beryl.

Slovakia — Level 1

Visitors to Slovakia can exercise normal precautions as the State Department reissued its Level 1 guidance for the Central European destination.

Ukraine — Level 4

The State Department reissued its Level 4 travel advisory for Ukraine on November 14 due to Russia's ongoing war against the European country.

Cuba — Level 2

Travelers should continue to exercise increased caution in Cuba due to crime. However, on November 21, the State Department "ended the voluntary departure of non-emergency U.S. direct hire employees and their eligible family members due to the restoration of power to Havana and other clean up and restoration efforts from Hurricane Rafael."

Rwanda — Level 2

Officials lowered the travel advisory for Rwanda, encouraging Americans to exercise increased caution in the African country due to an outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease and at the Rwanda-Burundi border due to armed violence.

Visitors should reconsider travel to the Rwanda-Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border due to armed violence.

Israel, the West Bank and Gaza — Level 3 and 4

The State Department updated its travel advisory for beleaugered Israel, the West Bank and Gaza on November 22, advising Americans to avoid travel to Gaza due to terrorism and armed conflict and reconsider travel to Israel and the West Bank due to terrorism and civil unrest.

Visitors to the region should also avoid Northern Israel within 31.1 miles of the Lebanese and Syrian borders due to ongoing armed conflict between Hizballah and Israel.
