The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) shared its vision for 2025, one that grows upon the region’s record-breaking visitor totals and strengthens the Caribbean’s collaboration, sustainability and innovation.
In 2024, several Caribbean islands achieved record-breaking visitor numbers that showcase travel’s growth beyond pre-pandemic totals and post-pandemic recovery goals. Several Caribbean islands, including Jamaica, Dominica and the British Virgin Islands, reported record tourism.
CHTA’s achievements include the Linkages Task Force, which creates stronger bonds between tourism and agriculture and local businesses, along with a tax advocacy effort in the Dominican Republic. The Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum (CHIEF) and the return of Taste of the Caribbean were also notable events last year.
Building on the past year, the CHTA expects to focus on three key pillars: offering new training to hospitality workers, using technology to improve guest experiences and hotel operations, and strengthening connections between tourism and local industry.
The Caribbean Travel Marketplace will be hosted in Antigua & Barbuda for the first time in 2025 and is expected to be an important event.
“A key part of this vision is our 2025 work plan, which also includes updates to our bylaws to modernize governance and ensure CHTA remains agile, inclusive, and future-focused,” said Sanovnik Destang, Executive Director of Bay Gardens Resorts and President of CHTA. “Caribbean Travel Marketplace, along with supplemental CHTA events this year, will serve as a catalyst for collaboration and new ideas, setting the stage for the future of Caribbean tourism.”
