The United States Department of State has updated its travel advisories for a number of countries in the recent week.
Three African countries were recently updated, along with destinations in Europe, Asia and South America.
The State Department has designated Cameroon as Level 2, or to exercise increased caution. The department made its classification on December 18, saying there were “health and civil unrest indicators” that Americans should know before traveling. … Armed violence, civil unrest, crime, health, kidnapping, and terrorism.”
The advisory said to not travel to the North, Southwest, some Eastern areas and the Adamawa regions of Cameroon due to the possible crime and kidnapping.
Gabon was also classified as Level 2. Visitors have been made known that medical facilities and accommodations are substantially. Crime is also rampant in some areas.
Guinea was tapped as a lower Level 2 offender due to crime, civil unrest and inadequate medical infrastructure.
Spain was also updated with a Level 2 warning.
Nicaragua was given a Level 3: Reconsider Travel update, along with Mozambique and Vanuatu.
Lastly, Belarus was reissued as a Level 4: Do Not Travel warning due to "Belarusian authorities’ arbitrary enforcement of local laws, the risk of detention, the continued facilitation of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the potential of civil unrest, and the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens residing in or traveling to Belarus."
