Southwest Airlines and Icelandair signed a strategic agreement on January 15 to allow travelers to connect between the two airlines’ networks, with sales and travel through Baltimore (BWI) beginning in February.
The partnership will also provide connections to Iceland from Nashville (BNA) and Denver (DEN) later this year.
“We are very excited to have formalized our partnership with Southwest and honored to be chosen as Southwest’s first airline partner,” said Tómas Ingason, Icelandair Chief Commercial Officer. “The partnership will open new and exciting connections for our customers onwards with Southwest to numerous destinations in North America, and at the same time, their customers will benefit from our extensive connections to Iceland and Europe.
"We welcome Southwest to our strong partnership portfolio in the US and ever-growing group of partner airlines and look forward to working together in offering our customers smooth and enjoyable travel experiences," Ingason continued.
Icelandair flies several routes from North American airports to Iceland, Greenland and Europe.
Routes begin in North America from Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Halifax, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Nashville, New York JFK and Newark, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington, D.C.
