Royal Caribbean’s newest and biggest ship, Icon of the Seas, is shaping up to be its most popular.The ship, which debuted in January, is currently sailing at 132 percent occupancy, according to a report from Cruise Industry News.The ship’s double occupancy is designed to accommodate about 5,600 passengers. But with a 132 percent load factor, the ship is currently hosting about 7,400 guests, which means it is also using third and fourth berths in staterooms.While data is not available for Royal Caribbean’s individual brands and ships, Cruise Industry News reported that the Royal Caribbean Group had an occupancy of 108.2 percent for the second quarter or 2024. That’s up from a 105 percent occupancy rate in 2023.Royal Caribbean's new Icon of the Seas features six record-breaking waterslides, a new AquaDome, eight unique neighborhoods, including the first dedicated to young families, the stunning Pearl, and much more.It is the world's largest cruise ship at 250,800 gross ton and features 20 total decks with more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges. The ship is designed to hold up to 7,600 guests max with 2,350 crew.
