JetBlue will launch twice-weekly flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Argyle International Airport (SVD) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on October 9.

The carrier will become the first U.S. carrier to offer service between JFK and St. Vincent, said company officials. The new flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.

JetBlue will also become the only airline to offer nonstop service between JFK and Bonaire, inaugurating the twice-weekly service between JFK and Bonaire's Flamingo International Airport (BON) beginning in November. The Bonaire flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

JetBlue’s new Bonaire and St. Vincent and the Grenadines flights represent the company’s “strategy to serve underserved routes and our emphasis on adding flying into top leisure destinations,” said David Jehn, the company’s vice president, network planning and airline partnerships.

With JetBlue’s entry into St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Bonaire, the airline now operates in more than 25 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. The new service was predicted by Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International, at a travel advisor event earlier this month at the new Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines resort.

“The government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are thrilled to welcome JetBlue to the place we call home,” said Carlos James, the country’s minister of tourism, civil aviation, sustainable development and culture. “This new service offers convenience, comfort, and exceptional service to visitors to our diverse destination.”

“This is a milestone partnership for us — adding a new relationship with JetBlue and expanding the options and accessibility for travelers coming from the Northeast,” said Miles Mercera, Tourism Corporation Bonaire’s CEO.

“The addition to JetBlue's repertoire of Caribbean routes gives a new audience of travelers the chance to visit with ease,” Mercera said, “and explore the nature, culture and individuality of our beloved island.”
