In 2023, Hilton opened 132 hotels with around 24,000 rooms between October and December 2023, the largest number of new rooms opened during any quarter in the hotel giant’s history, and it expects to continue that positive growth into 2024.

The full year welcomed 395 hotel openings across the globe, adding around 63,000 rooms, which is a net unit growth of 4.9 percent. Additionally, 2023 saw the signings of nearly 1,000 upcoming hotels, which is 45 percent higher than the year before and above the pre-pandemic level.

Hilton’s upcoming hotels and hotel signings are the largest in the corporation’s history, with nearly 3,300 hotels, representing over 462,000 rooms worldwide.

While the pandemic slowed hotel development from 2020 onwards, Hilton has shown that this post-pandemic trend is leaving us behind, with a 15 percent year-over-year increase in construction starts in 2023.

Hilton also added two new brands: Spark by Hilton and LivSmart Studios by Hilton, which should add more value to its premium economy and longer stay portfolios. Spark by Hilton was announced in January 2023, while Livsmart Studios, which was announced in 2023 under a working title of H3, will offer apartment-style accommodations for longer stays.

In total, Hilton ended 2023 with over 7,500 properties in 126 countries and territories around the world and welcomed over 213 million travelers. Hilton Honors, its loyalty program, has a record membership of 180 million members.

“Our team is delivering robust results, supported by the power of our brands, our award-winning culture and strong commercial engines,” said Chris Nassetta, president and CEO, Hilton. “Premium products and exceptional levels of service are driving strong customer demand for our hotels around the world, while better returns are supporting strong owner interest…”
