Disneyland and Walt Disney World are revising the park’s Disability Access Service rules as part of an attempt to curb what some publications have described as “misuse” of the program.“Disability Access Service…has bogged down attraction queues and backed up Genie+ lanes as a result of a tripling in usage of the program ripe with misuse and abuse,” according to a report in The Orange County Register.The Disability Access Service (DAS) program is meant to provide help to visitors who have developmental disabilities including autism, and other types of neurodivergent disorders. The DAS program’s website was updated today to reflect changes that will be rolled out in the coming months.Program changes include:
The changes are set to go into effect May 20 at the Walt Disney World resort and June 18 at Disneyland.In the meantime, the entertainment giant has provided some additional DAS program guidance on its website:For guests visiting from April 9 through May 19, 2024, please note:
The DAS service has become the most popularly requested service at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, The Orange County Register reported. The volume of program usage has more than tripled over the last five years.
