The vessels include some of the cruise industry's leading brands, including Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises and Disney Cruise Line, among others.

Officials examine common spaces like kitchens, pools and even children's activity centers as well as smaller details such as how often the hair and lint strainer in the swimming pool is disinfected or the water temperature of the dishwasher.
"Inspections usually take 6-8 hours, depending on the number of inspectors, ship size, amount of time the ship is in port, and issues identified during the inspection," the CDC states on its website. "These inspections are periodic and unannounced."
According to Business Insider, 34 ships finished 2023 with perfect CDC sanitation marks.
