Latin American airline
Avianca, has launched ticket sales for three new direct routes: Fort
Lauderdale to Medellin, Miami to San Jose, Costa Rica and Tampa to Bogota as a
new destination.
Operations for the new international
routes will begin on March 30, 2025, served by Airbus A320 aircraft with a
capacity of 180 passengers.
Avianca will offer four weekly flights on the Tampa to
Bogota route with 1,440 available seats, daily flights on the Fort Lauderdale
to Medellin route with 2,520 seats and 2,520 seats on daily flights from Miami
to San Jose, Costa Rica.
Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America,
Central America, and the Caribbean said in a statement, "After 2024, in
which we consolidated the most extensive network in our history and transported
the highest number of passengers in our 105 years, we are thrilled to continue
strengthening connectivity to and from the United States. We are also excited
to introduce Tampa as a new destination. We will keep working with authorities,
airports, and partners to ensure the success of these routes.”
Travelers in Tampa will be able to connect through Bogota to
over 75 destinations in more than 25 countries across the Americas and Europe.
Additionally, they will have access to 25 domestic destinations in Colombia,
providing convenient connections to cities such as Medellin, Cartagena, Cali,
Quibdó, San Andrés, and Leticia.
“The significance of a new Avianca route between Tampa and
Bogota is enormous, being TPA’s first to South America in nearly 50 years and a
long-awaited nonstop connection,” said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe
Lopano.
He added, “We expect this flight to be popular with both
business travelers and those connecting with loved ones, as well as adding an
exciting and vibrant new travel destination to our route map. We look forward
to celebrating the launch of this service with Avianca."
