American Airlines is set to expand its network next summer, unveiling new seasonal routes that connect U.S. travelers to scenic outdoor destinations across Canada and the Rocky Mountains.

"In summer 2025, American will launch five new routes to help connect customers with their favorite outdoor destinations,” the airline shared in a statement with Travel + Leisure. “From convenient access to breathtaking glaciers, awe-inspiring wildlife, and unique natural landscapes, travelers planning their New Year’s resolutions will have more ways to enjoy the great outdoors from Nova Scotia to Montana.”

Starting in June 2025, American Airlines will introduce five seasonal, Saturday-only routes, offering travelers greater flexibility for summer and autumn escapes:

  • Chicago O’Hare (ORD) – Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ): June 21 to October 24
  • Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) – Québec City (YQB): August 9 to November 1
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA) – Calgary (YYC): June 7 to August 30
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA) – Bozeman (BZN): June 7 to August 30
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA) – Kalispell (FCA): June 7 to August 30

Flights from Chicago and Dallas will utilize Embraer E175 aircraft, providing a comfortable 2-2 seating layout for economy passengers. Meanwhile, routes departing from LaGuardia will be serviced by bigger Boeing 737 MAX8 jets. In launching these new connections, American becomes the sole airline to serve these specific routes, distinguishing the carrier from its competitors.

In particular, American will operate more nonstop flights to Bozeman in summer 2025 than it ever has before, reflecting the growing popularity of Montana’s gateway to Yellowstone National Park. While primary competitors Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and JetBlue also offer flights to Bozeman from New York’s JFK and Newark airports, American’s new service from LaGuardia offers a potentially more convenient option for many New Yorkers.

The expansion aligns with a broader trend among airlines boosting flights to Canada in 2025. Air Canada plans to introduce nonstop connections from smaller cities like Tampa, Raleigh and Nashville to Vancouver. Additionally, regional Canadian carriers, such as Porter Airlines and Flair Airlines, will increase service between the U.S. and cities in Ontario and Alberta.
